Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | Seeking a 4th year student who is ready to apply the knowledge they have learned. Excellent customer service skills, interpersonal skills, diagnostic testing, general knowledge on recommendation for hearing aids, troubleshooting hearing aid complaints/issues, repair hearing aid(s), skilled in computer skills including skills with audiology diagnostic equipment and hearing aid software. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Successfully administers diagnostic tests including VNG, VEMP, ABR, OAE, vHIT, Dix-Hallpike, Immitance Audiometry, ETD testing, acoustic reflex threshold, Cochlear Implant evaluations, and BAHA/Osia evaluations. Successfully councils patients, makes recommendations, advances skills with hearing aid repair, troubleshooting, and fitting, increased comfort with various hearing aids, and manufacturers. Learn/demonstrate all the items listed in audiology extern job description by the completion of the externship. |
