Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | •Professionalism•Basic audiometry/audiological evaluation•Theoretical knowledge of pediatric audiological assessment•Theoretical knowledge of electrophysiology•Theoretical knowledge of amplication devices to include hearing aids, cochlear implants, bone conduction hearing devices, and hearing assistive technology. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | •Implementation of theoretical knowledge•Become proficient in basic audiometry with the pediatric population•Gain proficiency in amplification and cochlear implants•Gain profiency in electrophysiology; Vestibular assessment; APD assessment•Proficiency in counseling patients and families•Proficiency in writing evaluation reports•Proficiency in communicating within the discipline and primary and specialty care providers |
