LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is looking to fill a 4th year externship position for the 2025 – 2026 academic year. This externship offers extensive adult and pediatric experiences aimed at developing the externs clinical and professional skill set.
The LSUHSC Audiology extern will obtain a comprehensive and enriching clinical experience. This experience will include:
Provision of diagnostic services in the LSUHSC Audiology Clinic. • Clinical services include comprehensive diagnostic audiometry across the life span to include visual reinforcement audiometry, conditioned play audiometry, conventional audiometry, immittance testing, speech testing in quiet and noise, otoacoustic emissions, tinnitus assessment. auditory brainstem response (ABR), auditory steady state response (ASSR), Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) assessment, aural rehabilitation, and cerumen management.
Provision of hearing aid services in the LSUHSC Audiology Clinic. Responsible for clinical duties including hearing aid assessment, dispensing, verification and management.
Provision of cochlear implant services including candidacy evaluation, initial stimulation and maintenance.
Provision of Vestibular services in the LSUHSC Audiology Clinic including electrocochleography (ECOG), Videonystagmography (VNG), Video head impulse testing (vHIT), vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs), and computerized dynamic posturography.
Assist in the organization and maintenance of school screening programs. Participate in screening and complete reports that communicate results to schools and families.
Provision of clinical services at University Medical Center Ear Nose and throat Clinic.
Participation in Leadership Education Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND)
