The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology within Duke Health offers a 12 month full-time paid 4th year Au.D. externship. Applicants can expect a well-rounded clinical placement, offering experience in both pediatric and adult populations in a demanding and diverse environment. Students will serve patients within a large hospital-based outpatient clinic, the main-campus inpatient hospital, and the Children's Health Center (all locations are in Durham, NC). Students will gain hands-on experience in diagnostics, electrophysiology,  newborn hearing screening, hearing aids, bone conduction hearing aids, and aural rehabilitation. Students will gain limited observational exposure in the areas of vestibular assessment and cochlear implants.
