Sound Health Services, the largest private practice otolaryngology group in St. Louis, MO with 13 audiologists across multiple offices, is seeking a 4th year extern for the 2026-2027 academic year. The primary site for the externship is in Kirkwood, MO (St. Louis County) in a busy practice with several audiologists, ENT physicians, and allergy services providing an excellent well-rounded externship experience in a diverse medical setting.
We provide a full scope of audiologic and rehabilitation services to adults and children including: comprehensive basic audiometry and immittance, OAE, hearing aid fitting, verification, and follow-up care. Externs are allowed to take part in fitting and follow-up with hearing aid patients independently once they are ready.
Our ideal applicant must be a team player with a strong desire to learn and able to perform testing and counseling with minimal supervision. A stipend is provided.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology program and have completed the didactic portion of the degree before being admitted to the externship program. Additional requirements include medical malpractice insurance provided by your current academic institution.
Applicants considered for appointment will be invited to a Zoom interview with the Audiologist(s) in September 2025. Appointment letters will be emailed by the end of September/October.
Letters of acceptance/rejection are expected no later than October 15, 2025. The audiology externship program runs for 10-12 months.
