Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | Pure tone air conduction and bone conduction threshold assessment with masking Immittance with acoustic reflexes (ipsi and contra) and reflex decay Distortion product otoacoustic emissions Knowledge of hearing aid evaluation, assessment and fitting Knowledge of Real Ear measurements Knowledge of Cochlear Implant and BAI candidacy |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Universal Newborn Hearing Screening program and management Intra-operative cochlear implant telemetry Obtain a complete and comprehensive audiogram with tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, reflex decay and otoacoustic emissions for all age groups Comfort in use of BOA, VRA, TROCA, conditioned play audiometry and team testing Competency in implementation of ABR and ASSR under sedation and natural sleep Competency in vestibular assessment including VNG, VHIT, ECOG, VEMP Competency in hearing aid counseling, fitting, programming and follow up Competency in cochlear implant |
