Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | Applicants should have a diverse range of clinical practicum experiences and should be comfortable with basic audiometric testing and history taking. Basic understanding of hearing aids. Demonstrate good communication skills. Students should have a high level of motivation, professionalism and willingness to learn. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Over the course of the year, we expect the extern to become proficient and independent at performance of comprehensive hearing and vestibular assessments. Competent in hearing aid selection/evaluation, consultation, dispensing/fitting, verification and validation, troubleshooting and programming. Additionally, the student will gain confidence in tinnitus evaluation and tinnitus management/counseling and evoked potentials (VEMP, ABR, ASSR). Student will also have experience with cochlear implant and osseointegrated devices. |

Please clearly identify in your letter of intent which of the 3 Froedtert/MCW 4th year positions you are applying for (tinnitus , comprehensive or cochlear implant) and complete the appropriate applications.
If applying for the tinnitus & comprehensive positions, which are both managed by Kayla Sanders, you will submit your applications to kayla.sanders@froedtert.com and only 1 set of letters of rec are needed. Please try to send all application materials in 1 email if possible.
If you are also applying for the Froedtert/MCW cochlear implant focused position, please make sure to complete that application separately and submit to Shannon Walsh (swalsh@mcw.edu).
1st round interviews will be completed virtually (phone or zoom) by Kayla Sanders, AuD
2nd round interviews will be completed virtually or in-person if local and will be with most of the 9 diagnostic audiologists.
In person tour of facilities can be scheduled after interview but is not required.

Steps for the student/university to follow in the application process: | Complete an affiliation agreement with Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin. Assist student in meeting and providing proof of requirements: both malpractice insurance and general liability insurance, Flu/MMR vaccines, TB negative test, as appropriate. |
