Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | Students should be comfortable participating in basic audiometric exams with children using VRA, CPA, and conventional testing methods. They should have a high level of motivation and professionalism. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Students have opportunities to gain confidence with: otoscopy; acoustic immittance testing; air and bone conduction testing via BOA/VRA/CPA; hearing aid selection, fitting and verification; evaluation for cochlear implant candidacy; programming of cochlear implants; aided sound field and speech perception testing; FM/DM system evaluation, fitting, and verification; interaction with team members; and counseling parents. There may also be opportunities to participate in research and/or auditory training if candidate is interested. |
