The Department of Otolaryngology is accepting applications for a 4th Year Audiology Extern. The Extern will split their clinical time between the USF Auditory Rehabilitation & Clinical Trials Laboratory (ARCT Lab) and the USF Hearing & Balance Center. This externship offers a fast-paced medical center experience with both clinical and research audiology. Extern will support multiple clinical research studies. Externs are trained in the fundamental skills necessary to be a successful clinical audiologist or research audiologist. The externship is comprehensive in nature, and as such, combines rigorous clinical requirements with ample hands-on clinical training experience. Split between clinical and research responsibilities is dependent on extern's interests, research demands, and clinical demands, and can be flexible.
Extern will have cross-training opportunities with other allied healthcare professionals including Otolaryngology Residents and Fellows. Available rotations include observations in the otolaryngology clinics, surgical observations, and temporal bone dissection laboratory experience.
Bachelor's Degree is required. Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited Audiology doctorate (Au.D.) program. Academic requirements for degree completion must be met prior to starting the 4th year externship.
