Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | Proficient audiometric testing abilities for adult and pediatric populations. Working knowledge of ENG/VNG testing. Working knowledge of hearing aid technology. Ability to interact with patients, supervisors, physicians, and support staff appropriately and professionally. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Ability to perform and interpret audiometric and vestibular tests. Ability to dispense hearing aids and counsel patients regarding all aspects of hearing aid technology. Professional interactions with patients, physicians and staff members. Students are expected to complete their externship as independent clinicians. |
