Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | Externs should have completed all required coursework and have basic competency in pediatric hearing evaluation and knowledge of amplification protocols. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | The goal of this externship is to provide a well-rounded pediatric experience. Students should complete the externship able to: - Independently perform diagnostic evaluations - Counsel families on test results and selection of amplification including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and bone conduction devices - Perform a vestibular evaluation in a team test setting - Present case information to other members of interdisciplinary care teams both verbally and in reports |
