| Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | -Puretone & speech audiometry including a strong proficiency in masking skill - Immittance testing including tympanometry and reflex - DPOAE testing and interpretation - Word processing & basic computer skills - Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with patients and team mates |
| Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | -BPPV testing. Interpretation of testing - Real-ear verification - Hearing aid consultations and creation of appropriate plan of care -Hearing aid fitting while using best practice -Appropriate counseling with patients to help understand hearing and vestibular disorders -Maintaining appropriate documentation in EMR systems -Understanding Billing and coding for audiology services -Understand basic principles of business as it relates to audiology practices |
