| Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | - otoscopy - ability to complete comprehensive audiologic assessments (including masking) with minimal supervision in an efficient manner - effective communication skills with patients and office staff - correctly identify candidates for hearing aids, bone anchored hearing aids, cochlear implants - have basic knowledge of fitting, trouble shooting, and programming hearing aids |
| Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | - independently perform vestibular evaluations including VNG, Epley maneuver, and electrophysiology tests - proficiency in hearing aid fittings/follow-ups with Oticon, Unitron, and Signia - ability to counsel appropriately |
