Continuing education opportunities? | Yes Occasional training by hearing aid and cochlear implant manufacturers at Lurie Children's main campus in Chicago. The externs will be given time to attend continuing education as they wish, however no financial support is provided. |

Travel to satellite centers required? | Yes The Au.D. externs will complete most of their 50 week placement at our main campus in our downtown Chicago location. Up to two days per week may be at an off-site facility in the suburbs. The off-site facilities are up to 25 miles from the downtown location. |

Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | •Gain experience managing pediatric patients •Gain independence when working with children and their families •Gain experience counseling families regarding diagnosis and management of hearing loss and interventions •Gain exposure to cochlear implant candidacy and post-operative management •Gain experience interacting with a wide variety of medical professionals |
