Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | The ability to interact with children and families and motivation to learn from an experienced staff of Audiologists. Some experience with behavioral audiometry including VRA, CPA, standard audiometry, and electrophysiological measures, as well as, hearing aid fittings, verification and validation is preferred. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Proficient in diagnostic testing of infants and children including behavioral testing (VRA, CPA, standard audiometry) and electrophysiologic evaluations. Demonstrate competence in hearing aid consultation, fitting, verification, and validation. Independent counseling regarding identification of hearing loss, implications of hearing loss in the pediatric population and habilitative measures. Collaborate with other professionals such as early intervention providers, speech-language pathologists, and educational audiologists. |

One extern will have the opportunity to participate in LEND for an additional stipend. |
