Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | -Basic audiologic evaluations for adults, adolescents and older children -Some experience in behavioral evaluations of infants and young children -Otoscopy, tympanometry, acoustic reflex measurement -Experience with otoacoustic emissions -Earmold impressions |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | -Developmentally appropriate diagnostic evaluations for infants and young children -Developmentally appropriate diagnostic evaluations of persons with developmental disabilities -Hearing aid and assistive listening device selection, fitting and verification -Bone anchored device counseling, selection, programming, fitting -Cochlear implant evaluation, device selection, mapping, follow-up -Electrophysiologic audiology studies -Care coordination, working with EHDI program and early intervention programs -Participate in clinical research -Interdisciplinary teamwork |
