Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | Excellent customer service skills, excellent interpersonal skills, diagnostic testing including air conduction, bone conduction, SRT, WRS, masking, administering tympanometry, acoustic reflexes and DPOAEs, general knowledge on recommendation for hearing aids, troubleshooting hearing aid complaints/issues, repair hearing aid(s), taking earmold impressions, skilled in computer skills including skills with audiology diagnostic equipment and hearing aid software |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Progress in customer service skills and interpersonal skills, hearing aid evaluation customization, cochlear implant candidacy and MAPping, tinnitus evaluations, further advance skills with hearing aid repair, troubleshooting, and fitting, increased comfort with various hearing aid manufacturers, cerumen removal |
