The Audiology Externship Program at Iowa Ear Center is designed to provide students with extensive hands-on experience in the field of audiology. This curriculum is aimed at providing students an opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills with a focus on ENT/vestibular evaluation, as well as the principles and practice of otology. The program will expose students to various facets of private practice settings including hearing aid fittings for pediatric and adult populations, cochlear implants and assistive devices, as well as in-depth experience in diagnostic audiology for all ages, evoked potentials, and vestibular evaluation.
Student will be expected to have health and liability insurance through their university and will receive no medical, dental or liability benefits from Iowa Ear Center. Student must purchase a professional liability insurance policy to cover their activities in connection to the externship in the minimum amount of $1,000,000 per occurrence with an annual aggregate of $3,000,000.
Student will work an equivalent of a full-time work week for the facility. 36-40 hours per week must be worked or PTO must be claimed.
Student will adhere to Iowa Ear Center's HIPAA/OSHA requirements and patient confidentiality.

-audiometric testing for adults -knowledge of NOAH software -complete otoscopy and report findings -make ear mold impressions without incident

-Student will perform audiograms, VNG, ABR, and evaluations, fittings and programming for hearing aids, bahas, osia, and cochlear implants. -Students will treat both adult and pediatric patients.

Iowa Ear Center is a sub-specialty ENT clinic dedicated to the medical and surgical treatment of hearing loss, diseases of the ear and dizziness and imbalance. We are one of the fastest growing private practice otology/neurotology clinics in the nation. The audiologists at Iowa Ear Center work with a full range of hearing technology including cochlear implants, hybrid CIs, bahas, and hearing aids as well as providing audiological testing such as ABRs, both unsedated and sedated, and dizziness and balance testing including VNGs. With our dedicated pediatric hearing loss program, we are able to treat patients of all ages.
