| Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Externship site expects the extern to learn and demonstrate the following skills during their clinical externship: - Pediatric audiologic evaluations, including otoscopy, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, OAEs, and behavioral audiometry (VRA, CPA, standard) - Natural sleep and sedated ABR testing - Universal newborn hearing screening and diagnostic follow-up - Amplification services, including hearing aid selection, fitting, verification, troubleshooting, and counseling - Bone conduction hearing devices and cochlear implant candidacy, activations, and follow-up care - Family-centered counseling and patient education - Multidisciplinary collaboration with ENT, Speech-Language Pathology, and other pediatric specialties - Clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) - Application of evidence-based practice in pediatric audiology |
