| Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | * Perform accurate adult diagnostic audiograms (must reach competent level prior to focusing solely on pediatric diagnostics). * Fit and dispense hearing aids to adult population (must reach competent level prior to focusing solely on pediatric hearing aids). * Perform accurate pediatric diagnostics including CPA and VRA testing. * Perform accurate sleep-deprived and sedated ABR on infant population. * Perform newborn hearing screenings. * Function as a part of a diverse Audiology Department in a large hospital setting. |

| Application Requirements: | Letters of Recommendation Resume Transcript Letter of request/intent Other Curriculum vitae, transcripts, letter of intent, and 3 confidential letters of recommendation required in application. Letters of recommendation need to be emailed directly from letter writers. Transcripts required from undergraduate and graduate program. Unofficial transcripts are accepted, but must be copies or electronic versions of the official transcripts. Letters of recommendation will NOT be accepted after the application deadline of September 17th, 2025. Mercy Hospital requires flu vaccination as well as adherence to future vaccination requirements, in order to be accepted as an extern. Please be prepared to provide vaccination documentation prior to externship start date. |
| Steps for the student/university to follow in the application process: | Please submit application electronically by September 17th to include: letter of intent, curriculum vitae, unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and 3 confidential letters of recommendation. Please submit by email to blair.cristel@mercy.net. Letters of reference need to be emailed directly from the letter writer. Virtual interviews will be scheduled on September 30th, 2025. Contracts will be reviewed by legal departments of both parties after student is accepted. We do not perform onsite interviews prior to making an offer, therefore if the student requires an onsite visit prior to accepting a potential offer, it is recommended a visit be scheduled prior to submitting an application. |
