Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | Students should have a solid foundation in basic audiometric testing, and hearing aid troubleshooting. They should also be comfortable taking case histories and writing basic clinical reports. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | During their clinical externship, students will build on their foundational skills by performing advanced diagnostic testing, vestibular assessments (including rotary chair and VNG where available), and electrophysiological evaluations such as ABR and OAEs. They will gain hands-on experience with hearing aid fittings, real ear verification, tinnitus counseling, and cochlear implant mapping at select sites.
